- Enter the codes that should be sent to the MODEM
- when it is initialized. Examples of some codes
- are:
-
- "ATL2M1S11=55S0=0"
-
- AT modem ATTENTION command (mandatory)
- L2 Speaker volume (1-low,2-med,3-high)
- M1 Speaker ON until connection
- S11=55 speed dial (low numbers -> fast dialing)
- S0=0 disable auto-answer

- See your modem reference manual for more details.

- Enter the mode in which you wish Contact Plus to be
- started. If you select "NORMAL", Contact Plus will
- start as a normal DOS application. If you are
- running Windows or Desqview, you will need to
- select "NORMAL".
-
- If you select "MEMORY-RESIDENT", Contact Plus will
- load itself into memory as a swapping TSR. It will
- consume approximately 30K bytes of RAM memory while
- it waits for you to press the "hot-key" to launch.
-
- If there is a conflict between Contact Plus and
- other memory resident programs, you may be forced to
- run Contact Plus as a "normal" program only.
-
- Use the "TAB" or "ENTER" key to move from option
- to option. The hotkey should be selected using a
- combination of "SHIFT", "ALT" and "CTRL" keys ...
- so that it will have less chance of conflicting
- with other programs that may be running.

- Contact Plus can keep multiple databases ... one
- for your prospects, customers, family, relatives,
- baseball team, etc.
-
- Normally, Contact Plus wants to start with the
- default "CONTACT" database. You can change that
- option here by selecting an alternate database.
- Note: the alternate database must already have been
- created (See the DATABASE MENU).
-
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to select a database and
- press the ENTER key.

- Enter the method in which to swap. If you do "NOT"
- have EMS select the "DISK ONLY" option. Contact Plus
- will then use the disk to swap itself to.
-
- If you have EMS or are not sure, try the "EMS OR DISK"
- option. Contact Plus will then try to swap out to
- EMS first, and if that fails it will swap out to DISK.
- The advantage of swapping to EMS is it is much faster
- than swapping to disk.
-
- If you don't want Contact Plus to try to swap to EMS,
- then select "DISK ONLY". You may actually have EMS
- installed on your system, but due to conflicts between
- how Contact Plus handles EMS and how other programs
- handle EMS, the EMS option may not work. In this
- case you can force Contact Plus to swap to "DISK ONLY".
-
- If you have a RAM drive and select the DISK ONLY
- option, you can speed up the process of swapping
- by specifying a RAM drive in the "SWAP DRIVE" prompt.
-
- @@
- Enter the drive and path that you wish Contact Plus to
- store temporary files when swapped.
-
- Examples are:
-
- C:\TEMP
- C:\
- D:\TEMP
-
- If you select the "DISK ONLY" or "DISK OR EMS" option
- and have a RAM drive available, you should enter the
- RAM drive here since it will greatly speed up the
- operation of swapping.
-
- Otherwise, select a hard disk drive with the most
- available amount of free space available. Contact Plus
- needs about "1.5 Megabyte" of free disk space when
- swapping. If you do not have this much hard disk
- space available, then you will not be able to
- run in "MEMORY-RESIDENT" mode.
-
- @@
- Enter the "hotkey" you wish to use to when launching
- Contact Plus. The "hotkey" is only valid if the
- "MEMORY-RESIDENT" option is selected.
-
- It is preferable that you use a combination of
- keys so as not to interfere with keystrokes on
- your underlying programs. Good combinations are
- as follows:
-
- <ALT><CTRL>C
- <ALT><LEFT_SHIFT>Z
- <ALT><CTRL><SPACE>
-
- Contact Plus will "not" accept single key hot-key
- combinations.

- If this option is set to "Yes", you will notice that
